Curved Screen
- I.Do I need a curved screen?
Many people actually have a question: Curved screens are so popular and have so many advantages, then why are there still many non-curved screens?
In fact, the immersion and enveloping feeling that a curved screen brings is extremely wonderful. But not everyone needs a curved screen or is suitable for it.
Firstly, if you often use it for gaming or watching movies, and occasionally do light office work, it is recommended that you can get a curved screen; because the gaming and viewing experience brought by a curved screen is particularly wonderful, with a bit of 3D effect, like being right there. If it is used for design drawing, or table creation/text review (coding), then don't consider a curved screen; because the screen is curved, the images designed for processing are also made for the curved screen, but if you put it back on a non-curved screen, it will produce a distorted effect; moreover, on a curved screen, small text will have areas that are stretched and curved, and if you do text-related work for a long time, it will make your eyes very tired. Therefore, design and office work is not recommended to use a curved screen.
- II.Curvature
Curvature is a parameter that measures the degree of curvature of the curved screen.
How is the curvature obtained? For example, 1000R, then the radius of this curved screen is 1 meter. That is to say, when you sit facing the screen at a distance of 1 meter, the distance to any part of the screen is the same. Similarly, the smaller the curvature, the more curved the screen is, and the better the experience will be.
Curvature selection: Currently, the available curvatures are 4000R, 3000R, 1800R, 1500R, and 1000R. The smaller the curvature, the better the sense of enclosure and immersion. However, it also means a higher cost. Currently, the smallest curvature available on the market is 1000R. It is recommended that when choosing a curved screen, you should opt for a curvature of 1800R or below.
- III.Curved screen size selection
Curved screens are generally better to start with a large size. The minimum size is 27 inches, and the best is 31 inches. It is also preferable to have a fish-shaped curved screen (screen ratio 21:9, 32:9). The larger the curved screen size, the better the experience. Moreover, the larger the screen, the smaller the curvature can generally be achieved, and the screen can be more curved; conversely, if you have a 24-inch or smaller screen, to achieve a curvature of 1000R, the cost of the entire screen for bending would be very high, and it would not be worth it.
- IV.Curved screen panel
Curved screens all use VA panels. Currently, only this panel can be used to make commercial curved screens.
VA-type panels are also soft screens. If you gently touch the panel with your finger, the one that shows the rose pattern is a VA panel, and it is mostly used in mid-to-high-end displays.
Advantages: No light leakage problem, high tolerance and high contrast, black/white are more pure, suitable for those who pursue high-quality color presentation in design, film and television professionals, and the curved effect is very good.
